Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to You

Hindeep Privacy Commitment

Hindeep is always committed to protecting your privacy. Our goal is to design safe products and services so you can enjoy the best possible experience within the community.

We appreciate that you trust us when it comes to sharing your personal information – your trust means a lot to us.

Safeguarding Your Privacy. We design all our products and services with your privacy in mind. To achieve this, we seek input from experts in various fields, including legal, engineering, cybersecurity, and product design.

Transparency First. Since we use many of the same online services as you do, we understand that insufficient information and overly complex language are common issues in privacy notices. We decided to take a completely opposite approach: we strive to write a Privacy Notice, and all related documents, in a simple tone and language. We genuinely want you to read our notices and understand our privacy practices!

Data Security. We have multiple teams dedicated to keeping your personal information secure. We continuously update our practices and invest in security measures to enhance the protection of your data.

Privacy Notice

Welcome to our Privacy Notice. Thank you for taking the time to read it!

We value the trust you place in us when you provide us with your information, and we intend to always live up to that trust. The first step is to ensure that you understand the information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your choices regarding your information. This notice describes our privacy practices using straightforward language and minimal legal and technical jargon.

1. Who We Are

The company responsible for your personal information in this Privacy Notice (defined as the “data controller”) is:

Hindeep S.r.l.

Via Monte Rosa, 86

20149 Milan, Italy

2. Where This Privacy Notice Applies

This Privacy Notice applies to sites, apps, events, and other services that we operate and manage under the Hindeep brand. For simplicity, in this Privacy Notice, we will refer to all these as "services." For maximum clarity, we have added links in this Privacy Notice to indicate the services to which it applies.

Certain services may have their own privacy notice. If a service has a separate privacy notice, that notice will apply (and not this one here).

For example, on the site page related to physical events like "Speed Date Padel," we only collect your email address and use it to organize the tournament and send you communications related to the event's organization:

  • How to complete your registration
  • When and where the next events will be held

3. Information We Collect

To help you match with all the people you want, we need certain information about you, such as your primary profile data and the type of people you would like to meet on Hindeep. We also collect data to understand how you use our services, like access logs, and may also receive information from third parties, such as when you connect to our services through your social accounts or complete your profile by uploading information directly from those accounts. For more details, see below.

Information You Share With Us

When you use our services, you choose to provide us with certain information, including:

  • When you create an account, you provide your phone number, email address, and other necessary details for our services to function properly, such as your gender, date of birth, and preferences for the types of people you’d like to meet.
  • When you complete your profile, you may choose to share your sexual orientation with us. By providing such information, you also consent to our use of that data for the purposes specified in this Privacy Notice. You may also share other types of information, such as bio details, interests, and various content, including photos and videos. To upload certain content, such as photos or videos, you must allow access to your camera or photo gallery.
  • When you sign up for a paid service or make a purchase directly from us (rather than through a platform like iOS or Android), you share information about your purchases, and with our payment provider, your debit or credit card number and other financial data.
  • When you participate in surveys, focus groups, or other market research, you share your opinions on our products and services, as well as your responses to our questions and views on testimonials.
  • When you choose to join our events, promotions, or contests, we collect the information you use to register or participate.
  • If you contact our support team, we collect the information you share throughout the support process.
  • If you provide us with information about other people (for example, using a friend’s contact details for a certain function), we process this information on your behalf to complete your request.

Of course, we also process your chats with others and any content you post, as these are necessary to ensure our services work properly and keep our community safe.

Information We Receive From Others

Besides the data you share directly with us, we also receive information about you from other sources, including:

  • Members: Other members may share information about you when they use our services, for instance, when they interact with you in a chat or report you.
  • Social Media: You may choose to share your information with us via your social media accounts, such as by creating and logging into your Hindeep account using a social or other account (e.g., Facebook, Google, or Apple). You may also share information with us by uploading data or photos from your social accounts (e.g., Instagram or Spotify).
  • Other Partners: We may receive data about you from our partners, for example, if our advertisements are displayed on one of their services (in which case, we may also receive information regarding a marketing campaign's performance). Where permitted by local law, we may also receive information from third parties on individuals who are suspected or convicted to help ensure maximum safety for everyone using our services.
Automatically Generated or Collected Information When You Use Our Services

Using our services generates technical data about which features you used, how you used them, and from which device you accessed them. See more details below.

Usage Information: Using our services generates data about your activity on those services. For instance, how you use them: when you access, which features you use, and which actions you take, the information displayed to you, website addresses, and advertisements with which you interacted. Additionally, your interactions with other people: when you match or chat, and the number of messages you sent and received.

Device Information: When you access our services, we collect information from and about your device(s). Among the information collected at the software and hardware level are: IP address, device ID and type, app settings and features, app crashes, advertising IDs (randomly generated numbers that you can reset from your device settings and, in some cases, disable entirely), and other identifiers associated with cookies or other technologies that can uniquely identify a device or browser.

Information Collected Through Cookies and Similar Technologies: We may use and allow others to use cookies and similar technologies, such as web beacons, pixels, or SDKs, to identify you and/or your device(s). You can read our Cookie Policy for more information on how we use cookies and similar technologies, and for managing them.

Some web browsers (including Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome) have a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") feature that signals to websites that the user does not want their online activity tracked. If a DNT-enabled website receives a DNT signal, the browser may prevent that website from collecting certain information about the browser's user. Not all browsers offer a DNT option, and DNT signals have not yet become standardized. For this reason, many companies, including ours, do not currently adhere to DNT signals.

Other Information Collected with Your Consent:

Location Data: If you grant us permission, we may collect precise geolocation information (latitude and longitude) directly from your device. Data collection can occur in the background even when you are not actively using our services, provided that your consent explicitly allows this. If you do not provide the necessary permissions, we will not collect precise location data through geolocation, and our location-based services may no longer be available to you.

Profile Verification via Photos and Collected Data: If you choose to complete the profile verification process, we may collect facial geometry information, which may be considered biometric data in certain jurisdictions, to verify your identity as the person shown in your profile photos. You can learn more about the profile verification process and how we process facial geometry data here.

Additional Information: With your consent, we may collect other information related to your photos and videos (for example, if you want to post a photo or video or participate in streaming functions on our services).

For more information on how we process your personal data through profiling and automated decisions, we recommend reading our FAQs.

We follow these legal bases when processing your information as described in this Privacy Policy:

Providing Our Services: The reason we process your information for purposes A, B, and C is to fulfill the contract you entered into with us. For example, while using our service to meet new people, we use your information to keep your account and profile operational, make it visible, and suggest you to others, and, finally, to provide both free and paid features to you and other members.

Legitimate Interest: We process your information for purposes D, E, and F listed above based on our legitimate interests. For example, we analyze user behavior on our services to improve features, suggest offers that may interest you, and promote our services. Additionally, we process information that helps ensure the safety of our members and process data as necessary to exercise our rights, support law enforcement, and defend ourselves in case of legal action.

Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations: We process your information for purpose G listed above, necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations and to demonstrate compliance. For example, we store data on traffic and transactions to meet our legal obligations in finance, administration, and tax matters, and to provide access to such data when we receive valid requests from law enforcement. We also retain consent-related data and member choices to opt-out of certain features or processing of specific information.

Consent: If you choose to share information with us that may be considered sensitive in certain jurisdictions (such as your sexual orientation), you consent to our processing of this data under this Privacy Policy. Occasionally, we may request your consent to collect specific information, such as precise geolocation, or to use your data for particular reasons. In some cases, you can withdraw your consent by adjusting your settings (e.g., geolocation data collection permissions) or deleting relevant content (e.g., if you added information to your profile that could be considered sensitive). You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at the addresses and contacts provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.

5. How We Share Information

Since our goal is to help you meet new people, we necessarily share a significant amount of member information with other members. We also share some member information with service providers and partners who help us run our services, occasionally with law enforcement, judicial authorities, and other Match Group companies for specific reasons (as explained below). Read on for more information about how your data is shared with other users.

With Other Users

You share data with other users when you voluntarily disclose information using our service (including your public profile). We recommend being cautious about sharing your data: only share information you are comfortable with.

If you choose to make your profile or certain content or information about yourself visible only to specific people, that information will be visible based on your settings.

If someone submits a report about you (for example, a report alleging that you violated our Terms of Use), we may contact them to inform them of any decisions we have made regarding their report.

With Our Service Providers and Partners

We rely on third parties to operate, distribute, advertise, and improve our services. These third parties assist us in various activities, including data hosting and maintenance, analytics, customer support, marketing, advertising, payment processing, and security operations. We also share information with partners who advertise our services and help manage our advertising campaigns. For instance, we may share specific hashed information about you with our advertising partners.

We follow a strict verification process before partnering with any service provider or partner. Our service providers and partners are required to agree to confidentiality agreements for data handling.

Sharing Functions

You can share other members' profiles, and other members may share your profile with people outside of our services using sharing functions.

For Business Transactions

We may transfer your information if we are involved, wholly or partially, in a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy, or other change of ownership or control.

With Law Enforcement or When Required by Law

We may disclose your information if reasonably necessary: (i) to comply with legal processes, such as court orders, subpoenas, or search warrants, a government or law enforcement investigation, or other legal requirements; (ii) to support crime prevention or detection (in all cases, in accordance with applicable law); or (iii) to protect anyone’s safety.

To Enforce Our Legal Rights

We may also share information: (i) if disclosure would mitigate our liability in an actual or potential lawsuit; (ii) if necessary to protect our legal rights and the rights of our users, business partners, or other interested parties; (iii) to enforce agreements we have with you; and (iv) to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or other illegal actions.

With Your Consent or at Your Request

We may ask for your consent to share your information with third parties. In any case, we will clarify why we want to share the information.

6. Sharing Information

We may use and share non-personal information (i.e., information that by itself does not identify you, such as device information, general demographic data, general behavioral data, and anonymized geolocation data) as well as hashed personal information that is unreadable by humans, in any of the circumstances mentioned above. We may also share this information with other companies within Match Group and with third parties (particularly advertisers) to develop and deliver targeted advertising on our services and on third-party websites or applications, as well as to analyze and produce reports on the advertisements you see. We may combine this information with additional non-personal information or hashed personal information gathered from other sources. More information on the use of cookies and similar technologies is available in our Cookie Policy.

7. International Data Transfers

Data sharing, as outlined in Section 5, includes international data transfers to the United States and other jurisdictions that may have different data processing laws. When we transfer personal information outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or other countries whose data protection laws are deemed adequate by the European Commission or other competent authorities, we use standard contractual clauses (these clauses are legal commitments between the companies transferring data, effectively obliging these companies to protect your data's privacy and integrity) or other appropriate data transfer mechanisms. We are currently updating our data transfer procedures to our partners and service providers, as well as relevant legal agreements, to comply with the recent European Court of Justice decision on data transfers to the USA.

8. Your Rights and Choices

We want you to always be able to control your data, so we ensure you have the tools and options to manage it:

Service Access/Update Tools. Various tools and settings in your account can help you access, modify, or remove the information you've shared with us and that is directly associated with your account within our service. If you have questions about these tools and settings, you can contact our customer service team for support.

Device Permissions. Mobile platforms may offer system permissions for various types of data linked to the device itself and notifications (e.g., permissions to access contacts on your phone, photo gallery, or camera, location services, push notifications, and advertising IDs for ads). You can adjust the settings on your device to allow or deny the collection and processing of these data (and to show or hide relevant notifications). Note that if you refuse to share certain data, some of our services may not function properly or may lose some features.

Uninstallation. You can stop an app from collecting information by uninstalling it through your device’s standard uninstallation process. Remember that deleting an app from your device does NOT automatically close your account. To close your account, you must use the dedicated function within our service.

Account Closure. You can close your account by using the dedicated function available within our service.

We also want you to always be aware of your privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have one or more of the following rights:

Right to Access/Knowledge. You may have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you and, in certain circumstances, the ability to receive this information in a portable format. You can exercise this right of access to information directly from our service by submitting your request.

Right to Deletion/Erasure. You can request to have personal information we hold about you deleted. You can exercise this right to remove your information by submitting a request.

Right to Rectification/Correction/Update. You can correct most of the information you've shared with us through the edit profile function directly within our service. If you believe that the information we hold about you is inaccurate, you can contact us to correct it.

Right to Object/Restrict Processing. You may also have the right to object to or request the restriction of some processing of your information. To do so, please contact us.

For your safety and that of all users, we may ask you to verify your identity before responding to such requests. Please note that we may reject requests (including if we are unable to authenticate you) if the request is illegal or could violate trade secrets, intellectual property, or the privacy or rights of another user. If you wish to receive information about another user, such as a copy of any messages you received from them through our service, the other user must contact us to provide their written consent before we can release the requested information to you. We may also require that the other user provides proof of identity before responding to your request. Additionally, we may not be able to respond to certain requests to object to or restrict the processing of your personal information, especially if such requests would prevent us from providing our services to you. For example, we cannot provide our services if you do not share your date of birth with us, as we would be unable to verify that you are at least 18 years old.

In certain countries, including the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authorities if you have concerns about how we process your personal information. You can find more information about your data protection authority in the European Economic Area by clicking here, while for the United Kingdom, please click here. The relevant data protection authority where you may file a complaint may be that of the country where you reside, work, or where a potential data breach has occurred.

9. How Long We Retain Your Information

We retain your personal information as long as needed for legitimate business purposes (as stated in Section 4) and as permitted by applicable law. If you choose to stop using our services, you can close your account, and your profile will no longer be visible to other users. Note that we will automatically close your account after two years of inactivity. Once your account is closed, we will delete your personal information as outlined below:

To safeguard the security and privacy of people using our services, we have implemented a data retention system lasting 3 months from the account's closure or 1 year from an account ban. During this period, we retain your data in case it becomes necessary for investigating harmful or unlawful behavior. This data retention period for security reasons is based on our legitimate interests and also to protect the rights of any third parties who may have been harmed.

After this period, we will delete all your data, except for certain information we must retain for the following reasons:

a) We will continue to archive a portion of your data to fulfill specific legal data retention obligations. Specifically, we must archive transaction-related data for ten years to meet financial and tax obligations, credit card data for the period during which the user can request refunds or dispute these transactions, and traffic and access logs for one year, in compliance with legal data retention obligations. Additionally, we also archive user consent records for five years as proof of our compliance with specific applicable laws.

b) We archive a portion of your data for our legitimate interest, such as information related to our customer service and the data processed by this service. Additionally, we retain location data (non-precise or non-identifying) for five years to support our customer service, exercise our rights, and enable us to protect ourselves legally in case of a complaint. We also retain records of previous accounts and subscriptions, which we delete three years after the closure of your last account, to ensure accurate financial analysis and reporting. Moreover, we retain your profile data for one year in case of lawsuits or legal actions to demonstrate our rights and defend ourselves legally. Lastly, we retain data needed to prevent banned users from re-opening new accounts for as long as necessary to protect the safety and interests of our users.

c) We also retain information for our legitimate interest if a complaint, dispute, or legal action requires us to preserve such data (particularly if we receive a valid subpoena, a request to preserve such data—in which case, we would retain data to meet legal obligations—or if such data is necessary as part of or in support of a legal proceeding).

10. Minors Not Permitted

Our services are prohibited for individuals under 18. We do not allow anyone under 18 to use our platform. If you suspect a user is under 18, please report their profile using the dedicated feature within our services.

11. Changes to the Privacy Policy

As we are always looking for innovative ways to help you meet new people and ensure that the information about how we process data remains up to date, this Privacy Policy may change over time. Before any substantial changes take effect, we will notify you so that you have time to review them.
